API Stone Ltd stock various sized slabs and transform them into ashlar cladding, walling, flooring, paving and bespoke carving commissions.

API Stone is Albion Stone’s biggest block customer and has been for several years. We have a number of high profile projects under our belt:

      • Private Residence, Hampstead
      • Private Residence, Belgravia
      • Hyatt Hotel, Old Scotland Yard
      • Pennybank Chambers, Office Space
      • Brock House, Upward Extension and Refurb, London

Portland stone has been used in landmark architecture for centuries. The list of high quality references for this stone includes Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s cathedral, and most municipal buildings in town centres across the country are built with Portland.

    MANUFACTURING TOLERANCES:

The manufacturing tolerance on the thickness and face dimensions of stones is set out in BS 8298 Part 1: 2000 section 7.2 and conforms to the European Standard BSEN 1469.

Many stones will fall into the category of >50mm thick and length or width <600mm and will therefore be governed by a tolerance +- 2mm. API Stone Ltd will typically manufacture within this tolerance for the majority of production and allows for an installation tolerance of +- 1.5mm on a joint size of 5mm in most cases. Even the larger stones (>600mm) will be within the +- 3mm tolerance and in the majority of cases will allow for +- 1.5mm on the joints for site installation.

On several projects the design team have required exceptional tolerances (eg +- 1mm). The only reliable way of delivering these tolerances is through checking a very large sample of the finished stones using electronic calipers.

    API Crema Sanza

API Crema Sanza is high quality natural stone for architectural masonry, cladding and paving

API Crema Sanza is a unique light grey limestone that offers architects an attractive alternative to the ubiquitous Yorkstone that is specified by many Landscape Architects in the UK and Ireland. The stone is hard wearing and ideal for paving and robust environments.

One major benefit of API’s Crema Sanza is that it can be used in a multitude of formats including cladding, ashlar, paving or walling, similar to that of the hard Irish and North UK Limestones that are available on the market.

API Crema Sanza has been supplied for many commercial properties throughout Europe and large residential properties in the UK and USA. These include:

    • NHS Care Home near Bilbao.
    • Residential House in Miami.
    • Large Residential Villa in Alicante.
    • Brookwood (Large Residential House), Prestbury, Cheshire.

The limestone is extracted between Zaragoza and the French Border in North East Spain
and is proving a popular choice where more of a monotone grey colouration or harder material is required.

API Crema Sanza limestone has a light grey/off white uniform colouration which gives the stone a clinical and natural look. The limestone regularly competes against the lower cost Cumbrian and Irish limestones that are available on the market.

The material is suitable for all ashlar, cladding, architectural and landscape applications in various finishes from honed to bush hammered.

Extensive reserves are readily available and with blocks up to 3500mm long, large pieces are easily cut into one piece.

    API Laguna

API Laguna is a Spanish white Limestone and competes with many of the limestones available in central and southern Europe and also the UK.

API Laguna has a base colour of white and has small amounts of shells and fossils within the make-up of the stone. Harder in surface than that of the sandstones means that it is more suitable for thin cladding due to its strength and rigidity.

API Laguna is exclusively available to API Stone and has already proved a firm favourite and material of choice for some exclusive residential properties primarily in the Greater London area.

With a large percentage of the prestigious properties built in London being built in Limestone then our White limestone definitely fits the demographic of southern England more than in the north.

Residential projects of note are as follows

    • Buildings 15 & 16, Woolwich Arsenal, London.
    • 38 The Bishops Avenue, London.
    • 42 The Bishops Avenue, London.
    • Private Residence Virginia Waters

The stone is extracted near Alicante and then transported by road to the cutting facility in Quintanar de la Sierra in Northern Spain. The stone is then cut to size and transported to the UK for us to mason at our works in West Yorkshire.

API Stone Ltd added Laguna to its portfolio in 2012 due to always being asked to supply a white limestone. Laguna limestone is proving to be of commercial benefits compared to that of its Portuguese (Moleanos and Crema Mocha) and UK (Portland) counterparts and is more consistent in quality and colour than anything else that is available in Europe.

The material is suitable for all ashlar, cladding, architectural and landscape applications in various finishes from honed to bush hammered.

Extensive reserves are readily available and with blocks up to 3500mm long large pieces are easily cut in one piece.

    API Vein

API Vein is high quality natural sandstone for architectural masonry, cladding and paving

Quarried in Northern Spain from the same region as API Beige sandstone, API Vein provides the customer an alternative to the normal single colour buff/beige that is seen on many available sandstones.

API Vein has a base colour of beige and contains reddish veins that have been naturally formed by the flow and weave of water that has passed through the stone over millions of years. The sandstone is often chosen by clients that want the buff/beige base colour but also wanting something unusual and different from the norm.

API Vein has been supplied to many large residential and commercial properties throughout the UK, including prestigious projects such as:

    • Tesco Extra – Dunfermline.
    • The Square Retail Park in Beeston, Nottingham.
    • Thompson Farm and Equestrian Centre in Standish, Wigan.
    • 25 Hough Lane, Wilmslow.

The stone is extremely prestigious and in great demand within Spain. It has been used on many of the 5* hotels in Madrid along with some of the more impressive villas that are situated on the outskirts of the country’s capital city.

API Vein is being specified throughout the UK on a regular basis and it is a suitable match for many Yorkshire and Derbyshire buff/beige sandstones.

The material is available as ashlar, cladding, architectural and landscape applications in various finishes from honed to bush hammered.

    Stock is held in Huddersfield in section sizes 100mm x 100mm, 100mm x 140mm,
